I've got your aquisition right here, sucka.

Wow, there's a ton of things going on for me professionally right now. I might have to find new employment soon due to a big huge company swallowing up my smaller huge company. And so, I've been taking on more freelance work and bought a new (used) powerbook G4 to help me keep up. And, newsflash, I LOVE it. :)

Also, my name is finally printed in HOW! Pick up HOW's International Design Annual this month, and you'll see my name on page 75 next to the Trend brochure. Of all the awards that brochure won, this is the one that I'm most happy to see. May I say again, "Parrrrrtay over heya!"

Design saves victims of family gatherings

It's very common to have some anxiety about spending the holidays with relatives, but this year is a special one for me.

I'm going to spend Christmas visiting my neo-conservative, religious-far-right, passive-aggressive parents up in Washington. AAAaand, my awesome brother is going to bring his equally awesome boyfriend home to meet them. My fiance and I will fly in a day early, and we're looking forward to a week-long binge of spiked egg nog and bloody mary's, 'cause if your toungue is numb, you can't taste the uncomfortable, awkward conversation.

To commemorate, I've just ordered T-shirts for all of us, set to arrive the day after Christmas. So, if we're still standing when it's all over, we'll have a new t-shirt to show for it. :)

Casting Day is awesome.

I had a great time at work yesterday. We were holding a casting call for an upcoming photo shoot. The theme was rock & roll, so the models were all straight out of the LA music scene, with the cool hair and lots of tats. But the thing is, not even half of the models who came in had prior music experience, and alot of the models didn't play any instuments at all, so it was difficult for some of them to fake it.

I got recruited to design the t-shirts and other merch for the shoot, but when I saw some of the models holding the guitars wrong the producer asked me to step in and show them how to hold it correctly. Then, they asked me if I had my music shared on the network and if I could put something cool on for the models to rock out to. I was more than happy to comply, and before I knew it the models were banging their heads and thrashing around the set and actually showing some real emotions. I even jumped in for some pics myself!

The producers were so happy with how the casting went that they asked me to go on the shoot with them and to be in charge of the music! They said so many nice things like "you made the casting!" and "finally, you made the models get out and rock." Yes, yes, this is why I love my job.

Now, if I could just learn to read...

Look what the mailman just dropped off!

We got a package here at the office today from the American Graphic Design Awards (c/o GDUSA) with a letter that has some nice words on it like "congratulations," "you" and "winner." Apparently two pieces that I've worked on are selected for the 2006 GDUSA design annual.

Let me say again, "partay over here!"

(re)view brochure made it into HOW!

Yeah! I just got the new HOW Self-Promotion design annual here at the office, and a brochure that I worked on is in it! I'm talking about the (re)view image collection brochure in the "Merit" section on page 59! Yeah, my name isn't listed, because I only helped a little bit with it, but this is the first time a piece that I've touched has made it into a design annual!

I also did the jupiterimages spread on pages 5-6, but that's not nearly as cool.

So, that's all. Party over here!

Hi guys, I'm new to this site. I'm glad to meet thinkers, fellow workaholics, and/or anyone else who gets offended by bad kerning. I'm a graphic designer in Pasadena, CA, I work on the marketing team for Jupiterimages, and I freelance around town to stay balanced.

I have my portfolio up on creative hotlist and coroflot.

I also blog on livejournal and I've got a page up on this brand new website called myspace.com. Has anyone else heard of it yet?
Have you ever taken a walk in the forest, breathing the fresh air, hearing the sticks crack beneath your steps, and somehow finding yourself able to think more clearly? This is kinda like that.
